Garmin Nuvi 265W deals and what people are saying
Hi Fellow GPS Enthusiats. I went just so happend to get my wife an early christmas present and purchased the Garmin Nuvi 265w for my her car. She commutes about 30 miles a day in metro Atlanta, georgia. Just like all the big cities the biggest problem with driving is the TRAFFIC. The traffic here is a complete parking lot during the rush hour. That’s why I believed it was the best one for her.
Before I purchased I some thorough research and this is what people were saying.
From: JDThird’s Blog: Having been used to the MIO, and the horrible refresh rate, it is a pleasant change to see smooth scrolling as my vehicle moves. The ability to change the car icon is nice, especially with the plethora of icons available on the garmin website.
Accuracy is very good as well, and even in turns the unit isn’t so laggy that it becomes annoying. And also unlike what I was used to with the MIO, when I come to a stop at the intersection, the map doesn’t start rotating randomly on me.
Speaker is about as I expected, won’t hear much over a loud stereo but crank it up enough you can at least hear it if you keep the music down a bit.
From Michael Simpson’s Blog: I have owned quite a few GPS units all including Phone, Laptop and Dedicated. Flat out before I even get started the Garmin Nuvi 265WT is the best I have ever owned.
From Karnletter.com I am very happy with the Garmin to date though I have only used it locally up to now (About 2 months old) especially useful is the Google connection where I can insert points of interest direct from Google Maps or paste a picture in Google and transfer this to the POI file and favourites and then click on the symbol to start navigation.
Another important thing you should check out is the BAD Reviews also. These are something to look out for before you make a purchase.
From Philip FLorino: THESE UNITS consistently loose the voice. When this happens it still navigates but the system starts to hang. Also the navigation will start to hang too if you alter your route. You need to shut off the unit and restart but then it will soon happen again.
From: JH I bought this unit from a different location. I owned it for less than a week. Of note, I owned a TOMTOM before. I am not sure why this unit keeps getting rave reviews, but I am sure that those rating it are going by the available features and not actually USING the unit. It will NOT recognize left turns and traffic was useless.

Traffic is important feature for my wife. This way she can navigate around everything. But my conclusion is that it all depends on your city. I found a several great reviews of the traffic so I went ahead and Pulled the trigger on this one. and purchased it at Amazon.com . So after a couple of weeks I can safely say it was a very good purchase.

Hopefully this helped you decide if the garmin nuvi 265w is the best GPS for you. Truthfully there are many other cheaper models to buy from. You can probably get a decent one for half the price additionally half the features as well. Like I said the traffic feature is what i really wanted and it seems to be the most bang for the buck.
